Negros Occidental – The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), through its social development arm BPI Foundation (BPIF), has signed a four-year agreement with Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) to strengthen financial literacy among its nearly 40,000 students across four campuses.

Under the partnership, CHMSU students will gain access to BPIF’s flagship financial education programs, which aim to equip young Filipinos with essential money management skills and promote responsible financial behavior.

BPIF Executive Director Carmina Marquez highlighted the importance of this collaboration in advancing financial inclusion. “We are excited to work with Carlos Hilado Memorial State University on this initiative. Financial literacy is vital in building resilient communities, and through this program, we hope to empower more individuals and households with the knowledge and skills needed for a secure financial future,” she said.

The memorandum of agreement was formalized in the presence of CHMSU President Dr. Norberto Mangulabnan, Internationalization and External Relations Director Rhoderick Samonte, and College of Business Management and Accountancy Dean Dr. Marissa Quezon. Representing BPIF were Executive Director Carmina Marquez, Senior Program Manager for Financial Education and Arts Management Manolo Nava, and Program Manager for Financial Education Gladys Malapo.

This initiative reflects BPIF’s long-term mission to collaborate with academic institutions that shape future leaders, while reinforcing its commitment to nurture financially resilient communities nationwide.
