DAVAO CITY — Students and staff of Dr. Santiago Dakudao Sr. National High School in Malagamot, Brgy Panacan actively took part in today’s Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake and Tsunami Drill (NSED), reinforcing the school’s commitment to disaster preparedness and community resilience.
The drill simulated real-life disaster scenarios, complete with “injured” students, first aid response teams, and coordinated evacuation procedures. From executing the Drop, Cover, and Hold technique to swift movement toward designated evacuation areas, learners demonstrated discipline and awareness throughout the activity.

Campus-based responders practiced administering first aid and stretcher transport, while school officials, faculty, and barangay partners monitored the crowd to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the simulation.
“This is not just a routine- it is a life-saving exercise,” said one of the school’s safety officers. “We want our students to be ready not only academically but also emotionally and physically for natural hazards.”

Held quarterly by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the NSED seeks to instill a culture of preparedness in every Filipino, especially in earthquake-prone and coastal cities like Davao. The school’s participation serves as a strong reminder that preparedness saves lives.
Let us all stay informed, alert, and ready.
