NAAWAN, MISAMIS ORIENTAL – Better connectivity, safer travel, and easier transport of goods for farmers and residents in Naawan, Misamis Oriental is now a reality as the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project 10 (DA-PRDP 10) handed over the Construction of Mapulog-Tuboran farm-to-market road (FMR) with Arch Bridges on July 10.

The first of its kind in Northern Mindanao, the 1.68-kilometer-linear meter FMR with arch bridges is a P90.81-million subproject that serves a total of 925 households across three barangays in Naawan, namely Mapulog, Tuboran, and Patag, which is expected to help decrease travel time and reduce hauling costs and transport losses.

Naawan Mayor Dennis L. Roa shared his joy with the completion of the subproject since this will greatly answer to the needs of the farmers and residents.
“The people of the Mapulog, Tuboran, and Patag are so happy that they have approved this [sub]project. On behalf of the local government of Naawan, I would like to thank you for coming here and turning over the subproject,” he said.
The ceremony was graced by DA Undersecretary and Chief-of-Staff Atty. Alvin John Balagbag, who asked the beneficiaries to take care of the newly turned over infra subproject.

“We need your cooperation and we believe, since you are part owner of the [sub]project, that the best contribution for this subproject is to take care of this and maintain this for a long time,” he said.
“We hope that this subproject will benefit more residents and farmers for generations to come, and that it will continue to support the production areas along the FMR. You can trust that the DA will cater to the needs of the community, whether through training or interventions, to ensure that these production areas are sustained,” he added .
Also present in the ceremony were DA-10 Regional Executive Director and PRDP RPCO 10 Project Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan, PSO Mindanao Project Director Macario D. Gonzaga, and PSO Mindanao Deputy Project Director Carlene C. Collado. #(IAgawin)
