Davao City – TESDA scholars endorsed by Congressman Vincent Garcia of Davao City’s 2nd District received their starter toolkits in a handover ceremony held at the Multi-purpose Hall of RTC-KPVTC Davao on Friday afternoon, July 11.

The event, organized by the Regional Training Center-Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Davao City, is part of the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) which equips beneficiaries with the skills and tools they need to start their own livelihood or find employment.

Addressing the audience, TESDA Davao City District Director Novelita A. Dispo represented by Yvonne Louise Micabalo, reiterated TESDA’s commitment to creating employment opportunities for Filipinos through technical education. Congressman Hon. Vincent Garcia, represented by Sherwin manual, whose office endorsed the scholars to TESDA, delivered a message of encouragement and assured his continued support for programs that improve the lives of his constituents.

The highlight of the program was the distribution of starter toolkits to the scholars who completed their training in the following trades: Automotive Servicing NC I (20 scholars), Dressmaking NC II (20 scholars), and Support Horticultural Crop Works (22 scholars). These toolkits are intended to help the scholars immediately apply their skills and start earning.

STEP is TESDA’s community-based specialty training program aimed at meeting the specific needs of communities, particularly marginalized and underserved sectors. It offers free skills training, assessment, and starter toolkits so that graduates can readily establish their own livelihood or secure employment after training.

Through the collaborative efforts of TESDA and Congressman Vincent Garcia, this initiative reaffirms the government’s dedication to empowering individuals with skills and tools to uplift their lives and contribute to the community.
