Labor force participation in May 2025 was estimated at 65.8 percent, or about 52.32 million Filipinos โ€“ the highest recorded number since April 2005.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported recently that this is an increase compared with May 2024 report of 64.8 percent or 50.97 million and in April 2025 at 63.7 percent, which translates to 50.74 million labor force.

The labor force includes Filipinos aged 15 years and over.

The employment rate in May 2025 increased to 96.1 percent from its rate in May 2024 and in April 2025, which were both at 95.9 percent.

Conversely, the unemployment rate slowed down to 3.9 percent in May 2025 from its rate in May 2024 and in the previous month, which were both at 4.1 percent.

Labor force participation rate (LFPR) for youth, or those aged 15 to 24 years old, increased to 33.6 percent in May 2025 from 32.2 percent in May 2024 and 31.8 percent in April 2025.
